CHRISTMAS TREES

As a native species, the Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea) calls the Adirondacks home. The Balsam Fir grown at the Moody Tree Farm are planted for the specific purpose of one day becoming your Christmas tree. Seedlings are planted each Spring in transplant beds, then when mature enough transplanted to the fields. Every year the trees are fertilized, trimmed and protected from weeds. It takes nine to ten years in the field to produce a 6-7 foot Christmas tree.

In addition to Balsam Fir, the Moodys grow Fraser Fir (Abies fraseri) and will start a crop of Canaan Fir. The Canaan Fir (Abies baslamea var phanerolepis) has natural characteristics of both Balsam Fir and Fraser Fir. All three species of fir are for sale. Small christmas trees up to 6 feet can be shipped UPS. Delivery is also available.
